Jacinthe the surprise winner of the Latina Stakes (Czech Oaks Trial)

On Saturday, July 16, the horse racing season continued in Chuchle Arena Prague with the only one holiday raceday. The highlight of the program of nine races was the 43rd Latina Stakes, sponsored by PP asset management (Class A, 11f, 150 ths. CZK), the preparatory test before the classic Oaks (to be run in August in Carlsbad) for three years old fillies. The first two places were taken by Luboš Urbanek's pair, but the white Jacinthe, who made only her second career start and brought her trainer the jubilee 100th victory of his career, won half a length ahead of the favorite Korvette.

Grey filly of MS Racing stable Jacinthe made her debut in Prague only three weeks ago in EBF-maiden race and finished the fifth. In second attempt she showed a strong finish and great fighting spirit, when she beat her favored training mate Korvette by half a length. He jockey, 2018 Czech-champion, David Liška won his fifteenth Class A race, the first bone in this season. Whirl Wind Girl, who previously completed the best quintet in the Czech 1000 Guineas, placed third, two lengths back.

The jockey Vendula Korečková was very successful in other races, she won three of her five (the second lifetime hattrick), and with thirteen wins moved to the top of the standings of the Lázně Poděbrady Cup (flat riders' championship) and the KarBoBau Ladies Cup (Championship of female riders). Korečková won two juvenile races with fillies of five-times Czech trainer-champion Helena Vocásková, who reached the fifth this years' double.
