Magnificent comeback of Ignacius Reilly

The highlight of the fourth raceday of this year's metropolitan season in the Chuchle Arena Prague was the 74th May Stakes (Class A, 1m, 135 ths. CZK), traditionally the first important test of the year for four-year-old and older milers. The strong field of the race was certainly dominated by one length by 2021 winner of this test Ignacius Reilly with jockey Petr Foret, and after he had to leave the racetracks for a year and a quarter and achieved two places last year, he reached his sixth win on the highest stage at this year's premiere.

The seven-year-old gelding of the Syndikat V3J stable was previously in the training of Václav Luka, but he made a big comeback as a ward of Mrs. Eva Záhorová from Dolní Moravice, which brought her the third Class A win of her career. The Mile champion 2020 (i. a. winner of The Czech 2000 Guineas) Ignacius Reilly achieved his sixth win, all of which he reached in Prague and all of them in Class A races. Jockey Petr Foret, who was in his saddle also two years ago, recorded his jubilee sixtieth Class A win in the Czech Republic and the seventieth overall in his career.

The progressive 4yo filly Heidi High placed second, while the third Josephino finished almost four lengths back. Ignacius Reilly won in a quality time of 1:37.65, which was less than two seconds behind the race record.

Chuchle's trainer Mrs. Ivana Pejšková achieved two wins in the framework program, these wins were the first full hits in the current season.
