Outsider Joseph won Czech Derby!



The 97th running of Czech Derby ČPP (Gd-3, 1 1/2m, 2,5 mio. CZK, 3yo c+f) had a very shocking result. One of outsiders and only one Czech-bred horse in the field JOSEPH (49:1) won epic duel by short head of Felix (j. Rája, tr. Török, own. DS Pegas, 29:1),with George Boole (j. Šara, tr. F. Holčák, own. AGA-Vlachovice, 26:1) by another two and half lenghts third. Jockey Jiří Palík celebrated his second Czech Derby triumph, coach Pavel Tůma and owner-breeder, the most successful Czech owner of last decade, Jiří Charvát won their first Derby. Joseph achieved the time 2:29,19 on good track, the second fastest time in history of the race. // 7yo ALWAYS ON SUNDAY (j. Ms. Vokálková, tr. R: Holčák, own. Monte Negro, 6,5:1) achieved the second win in 58th Conseq Gold Cup (Class A, 1 1/2 m, 150 ths. CZK, 4yo+), 8yo PHU HAI (j. Murzabajev, tr. Luka, own. Leram, 4,5:1) reached already the tenth lifetime win in 14th Tattersalls Mile (Class A, 1m, 135 ths. CZK, 3yo+), 6yo HELLO HOBBY (j. Foret, tr. Urbánek, own. Lokotrans, 9:1) won 13th TRM Stakes (Class A, 6f, 135 ths. CZK, 3yo+) and second favorite HESSOESSE (j. Rája, tr. Tůma, own. Dr. Charvát, 2:1) won 38th WAGO Stakes (Class A, 11f, 135 ths. CZK, 3yo f.). Trainer Pavel Tůma nad owner Jiří Charvát won two races on this day, so during the weekend (incl. Saturday's Pardubice) they won five races(!), also jockey Bauyržan Murzabajev won two races on Sunday and achieved the 39th double of his career. (Results)
