The great weekend at the Chuchle Arena Prague offered, or still will offer, eight Class A races, and its Saturday part culminated in two traditionally the most important comparative races of 3yo+ horses at mile and long distances. The 4yo favorites won both of them and the second places were taken by the this year's classic horses. Due to the persistent rain, which stopped only during the afternoon, the races were held on a very soft track.
In the 42nd Meridian Team and Lokotrans Subotica Prague Stakes (Class A /local listed/, 1m, 600 ths. CZK) grey colt Torque Power (j. Línek, tr. Šavujev, own. Valentin Bukhtoyarov, evens) defended last year's win, by 3 3/4 lenghts in front of filly /third in Czech 1000 Guineas/ Achird (j. Lukášek, tr.. Nieslanik, own. MUDr. Eva Nieslaniková, 7:1) with 5yo mare Rabbit Havana (j. Verner, tr. Luka, own. ML Racing, 2,7:1) third by another four lenghts.
The 42nd Charvát Group and Lokotrans Slovakia Czech turf Stakes (Class A /local listed/, 1m 4f, 600 ths. CZK) was won by last year's Slovak Triplecrown winner Arcturus (j. Verner, tr. F. Holčák, own. Meridian , evens), the sixth from this year's Czech Derby and stablemate of Achird Rusel (j. Lukášek, 4:1) finished second by 3 1/2 lenghts, five lenghts in front of Carlsbad's doublemile winner, 5yo gelding Cacophonous (j. and tr. Martina Havelková, own. Pure Nutrition, 4:1).
Another two Class A races were the traditional 84th Gersch Memorial (spons. by K-K Metal, 7f, 150 ths. CZK), impressively won by Vert Liberte (j. Janáček, tr. Olehla, own. DS Pegas, 2,7:1) and Leram and Lokotrans Agro Stakes (5 1/2f, 150 th. CZK), unexpectedly won by 4yo filly Chop Chop (j. Verner, tr. Resulov, own. Stáj Arenzo, 12:1), setting a new racetrack record with a time of 1:08,13 at this unusual distance.
Jockey Jan Verner won two races on this day (he recorded the 40th lifetime double) and also trainer Radek Holčák won two races.
