Sovereign Opasan



On Saturday 18 July, this year's fifth raceday took place in the Chuchle Arena Prague, with a rich offer of ten races and a varied family program. Two important preparatory tests of the upcoming classic races took place as the highlights of the day, the Three-Year-Old Fillies Stakes and the JUDr. Otakar Frankenberger Memorial Stakes.

In the 41st Three-year-old Fillies Stakes (Class A, 11f, 150 ths. CZK) was won by the daughter of French Quebec, the winner of this race of 2012, Faliraki (6:1), owned and bred by Dr. Jiří Charvát, trained by Pavel Tůma. Faliraki reached the second lifetime win in only third race, her jockey Jan Verner won three races of the day and achieved the fifth hattrick of his career. Sylviana (10:1) finished second by three quarters lenght and Slovak representative Eyes on You (5:1) placed third only by a head.

Half an hour later and seven weeks after the easy win in Carlsbad, new Slovak star Opasan (1,5:1-fav., j. Radek Koplík, tr. Chodúr, own. BORMANN) won 34th JUDr. Otakar Frankenberger Memorial Stakes (Class A, 11f, 150 ths. CZK) in imperssive style by five lenghts in new race-record 2:19,63. The second placed stablemate of Sylviana Rusel (10:1) and in Chuchle Arena trained Cote Jardin (2,7:1) finished third.

Also the first important race for the youngiest horses was ran: Simson Stakes (Class B, 6f, 100 ths. CZK) was won by filly owned by Leram Muguruza (3,5:1), who ran her first lifetime race. Six times Spanish champion and five times Czech jockey champion Václav Janáček, rode for the first time in this year in Prague, was aboard, trainer of the filly Václav Luka achieved two wins during the afternoon.
