Sternkranz won the Gold Cup



The 15th EŽ Praha Gold Cup (fences Class A, 2m 5f, 360 ths. CZK), the longest and the richest fances race in the Czech Republic, was the highlight of the seventh part of the metropolitan horse racing season in Chuchle Arena Prague. In the field of five, after short fight with a stablemate, last year's win defending Capivari, the 7yo gelding Sternkranz with jockey Lukáš Matuský finally prevailed by one and quarter lenghts.

The first two horses in the finish represent the stable of the Italian owner Josef Aichner Scuderia Aichner SRL and they are trained by Josef Váňa Jr. Participant of German Derby (2017)  Sternkranz introduced himself in Prague for the first time and added an eight career win to the previous successes from Germany, Italy and France. Slovak jockey Lukáš Matuský, the winner of last year's Velká Pardubická, won EŽ Praha Gold Cup for the first time, overall he achieved his second lifetime win in Prague.

The schedule included two fences races and six flat races. Female flat jockey and trainer Martina Havelková won, as jockey and trainer, two races of the day and reached her 21st riding double in the career.
